The Old PowerBook

My Powerbook G4 are 4 years old, help me a lot in my design journey, i would say it is a very nice laptop compare to those Windows based computer(s) that i used before.

我的 PowerBook G4 跟了我四年了，在我的设计旅程上帮助了我很多，我会说它是一台很棒的笔电，比起那些我曾用过的Windows电脑好多了。

Because it is too old, and cannot perform some advanced tasks, although it’s still good in performing basic task like checking emails, web surfing, document works and some basic graphic works, it’s just cannot achieve some of the latest multimedia works requirement, also, there are many scratchers on the housing, and the battery is drain off very fast.

So is time to say good bye my old friend, you have fulfill your destiny, and is time for you to rest at home as my backup mac.

因为它已经很旧很老了，也不能做一些比较进阶的运作，虽然它在一些基本上的运作如查电邮、上网、文书工作与一些基本的图像处理还算可以，但它就是不能达到近年来的多媒体工作上的要求，而且在外壳伤有很多的瑕疵、损伤，电池也很快就没电了。

所以是时候和这位老朋友说再见了，你已经完成了你的使命，现在是让你在家里休息的时候了，做我的后备Mac吧。

The New MacBook

Because all these reasonable reasons, i had made a decision to go for a new MacBook. Before that i was struggled should i go for Desktop iMac or Laptop MacBook, but based on the hardware specification and portable reason, i decided to go for new MacBook last saturday, bought it from Moorey from IT Fusion.

因着这些有理的理由，我决定选择新的MacBook。在这之前我也很挣扎应该买iMac还是新的MacBook，但按照硬件的比例与方便携带的理由，于是在上个星期六从 IT Fusion的Moorey 那里购买了新的MacBook

Apple is getting “Green”

Apple products is getting more “green”, which mean it is highly recyclable and even more energy efficient, the new MacBook is designed with the environment in mind, and the packaging are made from recycled material, the new MacBook packaging is 41 percent smaller than the previous generation. Save the planet huh? But i find it is nice, i like the idea, although they took away some accessories like Mini-display port DVI cable.

苹果的电脑将会朝向“绿色”，意思是更加环保的并且可以再循环使用，新版的MacBook在包装上设计也更加的节省，比起上一代的包装小了41%。拯救地球huh? 但我觉得还不错，我还蛮喜欢他们这点，虽然他们已不附上一些零件如Mini-Display port DVI cable。

Overview

It is really a beautiful machine, compare with previous generation. From internet there are some people don’t like the glossy screen because of reflection issue, especially when in a very bright environment. But it look fine to me, not really sure why they have to work under the sunlight. Beside that, the only feedback is they took away the FireWire port from MacBook, only MacBook Pro got FireWire port, but is 800 port, which mean all the old 480 port are not able to use it. For me is fine, i don’t usually work on Video editing stuff, so i don’t need that, and most of the new video camera in the market are recognize by iMovie with USB 2.0 port, this shouldn’t be a problem for new vesion of iMovie.

比起上一代，它真的一台很漂亮的机器。在网上有一些网友不喜欢它的光泽萤幕，因为在太亮的地方也会有反光的问题，但对我来说还好，我不明白他们为什么要在太阳底下使用笔电。除了这个，还有一个feedback就是他们把FireWire插口从MacBook上拿走，虽然MacBook Pro有但却是新的800插口，而不是一般使用的480插口，这对那些有做视讯编辑而硬件又无法让Mac连接的朋友是一个问题，但对我来说还好，我也很少做视讯处理，而且现在的录像机都会使用USB 2.0了，这对新版的iMovie来说应该不是问题。

Why i choose MacBook instead of MacBook Pro?

Basically it is much better than other models, according to the hardware specification, this one should be enough for me to use for less than 3 years.

some of my friends curious why i don’t go for MacBook Pro instead of MacBook, because i think all these laptop hardware specification standard can only last for 3 years, even you bought a powerful MacBook Pro now, 3 years later you will discover it cannot compare to those new models, so i won’t spend too much on this, i just need a apple laptop that can fulfill my requirement within these 3 years that is ok for me.

At least when that time come, and you want to change to another new one, you won’t felt “struggle”. My old PowerBook G4 is an example, when i bought it few years back, it cost me RM7999 !! And Now? I don’t think people will buy from me if i selling it at RM1000, even there is, you will not sell it coz you find it is not worthy.

This is the reason why i choose MacBook instead of MacBook Pro

基本上它都比起现有的Apple笔电好很多，按照硬件的标准，这台笔电应该够我用上三年。

身边有些朋友会好奇我为什么不买MacBook pro而买MacBook，那是因为我认为这些笔电的技术，只可以维持三年的电脑硬件标准，就算你现在是买MacBook pro，很贵很强，但三年后也比不上那些新版的技术了，所以我不会花太多钱在这方面，只需要一台可以满足我这三年里的需求就ok了.

至少到时再换一台新的你不会那么心疼。不像我那台旧的PowerBook G4 15″inch，那时买可要花上RM7999的价钱，现在呢？RM1000不知道会有人要吗？有你也不想卖。

这就是我选购买MacBook而不买MacBook Pro的原因。
