Why shouldn’t use website template for your corporate website?

Why people will go for custom website design instead of web template for their corporate website or personal website? Because buy a web template is like buy a clothes from wholesales factory, and after sometime you will notice someone are wearing exactly the same shirt like yours, if you are couple, that’s fine, but if you are not, sometime you just feel odd to see another person wearing the same shirt like yours.

Same as the website template, same color scheme, same font type, same animation, even same music.

Compare these two website, are they look the same? (beside logo and content….)

Good about web template:

• Cheap, if you are not last person to buy it and take it from the shelf, it just cost you less than USD 70. Some time it is free, depend how they get it.
• Fast, if you are the buyer, basically you don’t need to have advance knowledge of HTML/Flash, you don’t even need to hire a web designer to make changes at the first place. Some web design company will go for template, because it is fast, no need to design, just buy it from the shelf and sell it to their client, sometime even reuse it.
• Looks cool and nice, most of the Full Flash template are looks cool.

Bad:

• As i said on top, you are wearing the same shirt design with many people. And if you want to own it, it will cost you USD 2,500 and above. But before you decide to take it totally out from the shelf, there are numbers of user already bought it. It is not limited edition anywhere.
• Looks cool but usually not practical, especially the Full Flash Site, most of them are not optimize and loading forever.

Then how to avoid it? Put effort to customise it. Make it yours.
