Introduction

Cloud storage is a new trends in IT world start from few years ago, comparing with traditional data storage solution (USB/HDD/NAS etc), Cloud storage is more dynamic and portable to use, since it does not restricted by the hardware/distance, some may be limtied by the service provider only.

Perhaps the major concern is the privacy/security from the service provider, but now a day, does people really care? Look at the service provided by Google, people just put their stuff/emails/documents/private stuff there. And don’t even care whether staff from Google will take their stuff to use for other purposes.

However, personally, i think think some stuff i will not let it access from the internet, as even i’m IT person, i don’t trust the machine, or people behind it.

Options

There are may cloud sync/sharing storage service from internet, and many of them are free. To me, i will use all of them, because each of them have their own strength and benefit. Most importantly, they all provide free minimum 1-2GB as starter account without charges, so why not since it is FREE?

This comparison is posted by SugarSync, seems like SugarSync is offering more features than others. However, personally, i like ZumoDrive Interface, especially the music player.

So do give it a try and see which one suitable for you. All of them support sycn with multiple platform (Mac/PC/Androids/iOS/Web OS etc)

The first Cloud storage service that i used few years back, and it seems like it is still the best, fast, support lots of platform, and interface is clean and easy to use. Free with 2GB storage, and you can earn more storage by sharing to your friends.

A new Cloud Storage sharing/sync service that i recently give a try, which is highlight recommended by HP and only one which support with device that running Web OS, I like the music player interface that available in iPad. Seems like the team behind this is the same team that created ZumoCast app.

The original “Push notification” inside your iOS device (iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch) sometime can be very annoying, especially when receive a multiple push notification, you can only see the latest one. And MobileNotifier change this for you.

MobileNotifier is an open source reimplementation of the iOS notification system, designed to be unobtrusive, user-friendly, and a joy to use. A new release was announced earlier today, bringing the software to a significantly more usable state. It’s accessible on Cydia via the repo http://phajas.xen.prgmr.com/repo, and it really feels like the way iPhone notifications should have been done by Apple in the first place.

Again, this tweak only available in Cydia, yes you have to jailbreak to get this features, it is free. Add this repo from cydia:

Some readers wrote to me and asking for this theme after saw it from this post, to be easy for all of you, download and follow the instruction below to put it into your iOS device. (iPhone/iPod touch/iPad).

You need Winterboard for this. And you need to unzip the file and using FTP/iPhone Browser/iPhone Explorer transfer the folder to:

“root/Library/Theme”

And activate it via Winterboard. Jailbreak is required.

* Just incase you want to tweak the weather locale, please open the “LockBackground.html” inside the folder using note pad/text edit. And change the variable of line 164:

var locale = 'Kuching, Malaysia'

to

var locale = 'Singapore'

And save it, transfer it again. Remember to re-spring, if you don’t know how, reboot then.

* To hide the original clock/date, install “Lockscreen Clock Hide” from Cydia.

Please note the theme originally is by technonse, I just modified it with my custom wallpaper, realignment of the caption display and custom weather location. Also, i modified it for iPad version. To respect it’s original author, please include the credit when you share it in your network/blog/website/email etc.

The reason i go for jailbreak is not because piracy. But able to do further more that what Steve restricted to the iOS, example : Custom theme/custom lock screen etc.

Recently i create this custom lock screen theme that able to display weather/big clock/stylish date info, in very clean look that make your ipad look unique than others.
The original source code is based on LS Nimbus, created by techhouse.

But as it is design for iPhone, if you use it on iPad, it doesn’t display properly. So i modified it to make it look compatible with iPad. And changed the wallpaper to something else, since user’s wallpaper doesn’t work with Winterboard in iOS 4.2.1.

Now my iPhone and iPad look more like one family.

To use this theme, you need:

• Winterboard
• iPhone Explorer/iPhone Browser to transfer the file into “/root/Library/Themes/”
• Lockscreen Clock Hide (To hide the default clock/date)
• You might need to tweak the file to set your local weather info.
