Google offline map in 3.x firmware
Update 5th July 2010, this method no longer work in iOS4 firmware, just ignore.
I believe many of you (who using iPhone with 3.x jailbroke firmware) wondering when can you use Google offline map in 3.x firmware, as it is only fully support in 2.x firmware only. The reason why 3.x firmware are not support Google offline map is because the Google map data in 3.0 firmware contain advanced information compare with 2.x, refer to screen capture of “com.apple.Maps.plist” below:
我相信有很多3.x越狱iPhone用户在纳闷几时才可以使用Google offline map，因为暂时Google Offline Map只能正常在2.x版的固件上操作。原因是3.x里的”com.apple.Maps.plist”比2.x里包含了更多数据，看下图：
But it is still possible to get the offline google map work in 3.x firmware, just that it is nothing to do with “OfflineMaps” app that Cydia now, how? Follow these steps:
但还是可以有办法在iPhone/iPod touch 3.x下使用 Google offline map，只是和之前那个Cydia里的OfflineMaps无关，如何做到？按照这步骤：
1. Goto Cydia, search “Map Enhancer” from Cydia, install it.
1. 到Cydia，搜寻”Map Enhancer”，安装。
2. Go to “Setting” in your iPhone, goto “Map Enhancer”, make sure “Keep maps cache” is “On”. For Maximum zoom level, is up to your preference, leave default setting.
2. 到iPhone/iPod touch中的”Setting”，你应该会看到”Map Enhancer”, 打开，确定”Keep maps cache”是“On”. 其它的就不必更改。
3 Now make sure if your iphone/ipod touch is connected to Internet, open the Google Map, just pan around the map you want to keep offline, example, if you want to keep Singapore Map offline, just zoom into singapore, browsing the area you want to keep, make sure the map is finish loading. Until you are able to view the area without needed to loading the map, now you can turn off your internet connection with your iPhone/iPod touch.
3. 现在确定你的iPhone/iPod touch是连接上网的，打开Google Map，浏览你要保留的地图，稍微把整个地区都看完（确定Map是完全下载）比如你要保留新加坡，就把整个新加坡地图看完。
4. Now you should able to view the map in offline mode.
4. 你可以尝试把连接上网的设定关闭，再打开Google Map，现在应该可浏览Offline map了。
I understand this one is not friendly, compare with previous one just need to load the map cache file from /Map folder, however, at least this is easy for those who don’t know how to build map by themselves.
