  If iTunes do not allow you to transfer your Whatsapp, you may have to edit the plist inside whatsapp and put into iTunes:

      I think you have to:
      After changing your plist file, installing 2.5.3, activate it and let it failed, kill app and close it and upgrade, refer to Siumk’s comment, i think he/she go through more steps than me.

After many times of attempt, I finally manage to get it work with the hack.
1. Install 2.5.3
2. Kill app immediately (double click home to kill) after key in authorization code
3. Turn off all network connections including 3G and WiFi
4. Open app again and turn off auto favorites creation
5. Close app and upgrade to 2.5.12
6. Open app and wait for 1 minute
7. Turn on 3G network by leaving app run in the background
8. Go back to the app and turn firewall on
9. Click network status to connect
10. Done

Hi Guys,

I am unable to get to authorization page. installed 2.5.3 and launched the app. Got to key in the phone number to receive the sms once i confirm the number, screen darkens with the white loading circle, then app crashes.

Anything that im doing wrong here?

Any help is greatly appreciated. i would like to get whatsapp working on my iPad…

      Once you tweak the plist file, you must respring your device, or restart.
      And before upgrade to latest version, you must do the verification steps from previous working version, which will crashed automatically but leave it as it is and upgrade.
      
      Not sure about Installous, my Whatsapp is purchased from iTunes App store, without changing anything from it.

Refer to your tutorial:

“Step 1. Install Whatsapp version 2.5.3, activate it with your other mobile phone number that you going to use in your iPad/iPod touch for Whatsapp. First time setup you will prompt to allow Push notification, tap yes. And insert your mobile number to activate. After that you will received an error message said “Your device is failed to authorized, would you like to retry the authorizaion…” ignore and close the app.”

Why after i insert my phone number i didn’t get error message, but the app crashed and always get me to home again. Can I continue to the next step? I use ipad 3G, firmware 4.2.1.

there is a disconnect between the original solution and the current problem. some days ago, not sure when exactly… but sometime after this original solution was made whatsapp changed the way they authenticate the software with phone number. as said many time before by the past few users, you are not able to enter an authorization code into whatsapp anymore. the app simply crashes once it realizes it is running an older version on an ipad, eg. running whatsapp 2.5.3 on ipad. it will not allow you to enter any authorization codes. so the app is not even authenticated with there servers. upgrading the app to a newer version does not do anything because the app is still in an un-authenticated state. the solution above worked for a few days but now it no longer works. whatsapp has changed there systems to identify ipads in a different way. i have tried every method possible. before it worked, now it doesnt.

  Oh really? So bad…. But anywhere, if next time really hard to get Whatsapp work in my iPad/iPod Touch, i’m going to ask everyone in my network switch to other similar app, like KaoKaoTalk.

  The trick is to fool the servers into thinking that the whatsapp 2.5.3 you are running is actually the latest version and you will be able to key in the authorization code. Then follow Siumk’s instructions. I tried and it works.

  i didn’t encourage them to install the whatsapp from Installous, mine Whatsapp is paid. what i provide here is to show how you can install it into iPad/iPod touch. Everyone knew iNstallous is illegal, people who choose to install app/game from Installous is up to their decision. I never encourage them to use it.
  
  I still respect the app/game developer/author, by paying it to get the app. But i don’t like the developer restrict the app for certain model of the device that previously supported. Which i should get it to work with the device that i want since the App is paid by me!

  But even you installed the cracked one from install0us, you can’t activate it from iPad/iPod touch, unless you have previous version that is installed and activated. Is the security check from whatsapp server that prevent people to activate from iPad/iPod touch. That’s why we need to apply a “by pass” hack to get it work and activated.

Also, what’s the interest of this application §

It seems that the only intresting thing is that it can contact anyone in
your contacts list even if they don’t have MSN, Gtalk, AIM, Yahoo
messenger, or any other messenger ?

So how people will be contacted if they have no messenger and haven’t installed Whatsapp ? Will they get an email or SMS ?

Because if they really need to install Whatsapp it’s quite useless, they
could rather install any ther messenger or use Gtalk that is core on
eveyr android phone, right ?

Now however, I cant get whatsapp to send a msg to my phone.
When im typing in my numer it says “could not connect to whatsapp servece. please try again later”.
Internet is working fine though..

i’ve an ipod touch 4g runnin 4.2.1, jailbroken… installed whatsapp 2.6.4 from installous. after typin in my cel number… it does’nt send me that 3 digit code….
