How to create iPhone custom ringtone (Different methods)
There are many ways you can create custom ringtone for your iPhone, you can create ringtones from any one of your non-DRM songs in your iTunes library easily and for free. Choose either one from methods listed below.
1. Directly create from your iPhone via “Best Ringtone Maker” app

iTunes Download link. Note, due to Apple rules, you need to snyc your iPhone with iTunes before for you can use the ringtones. Don’t worry, it is very quick and easy and you do it all the time
2. Use Garageband from iLife (Mac only)

3. Use iTunes 10 (Mac or Windows)
Use iTunes convert your none-DRM protected Mp3 file to AAC, rename the file extension and put back to iTunes Library. (Ringtone must be within 30 seconds)

4. Use iToner App (Mac only)

iToner is super easy ringtone maker tool for iPhone, but only for Mac, no Windows version. Just drag and drop, and sync that’s it. You can customize the length as well with the tools. Although it is trial version, you can still keep using it. Get it from this link
5. Use Quick Time 7 Pro or Quick Time Player (Built-in from Snow Leopard)
Actually the built-in Quick Time in Mac is very useful, you can do a lot of thing beside just watch a movie. I’m not so sure about Windows version, but you can give a try, method below work from Mac and it is free!
1. Locate your mp3/AAC file, by right click on the song name and choose “Show in Finder” (Mac) or “Show in Explorer” (Windows)

2. Right click on the MP3/AAC file, and choose “Open With” > “Quick Time”

3. Click “Edit” and choose “Trim” from Quick Time

4. Drag the timeframe bar to the length you want and click “Trim” button to finish it.

5. Now click “Save as” from Quick Time. By default, quicktime will save your file as movie file (m4v) or mov. Just ignore it. Change the format to “iPhone” and click “Save”

6. Now rename your file extension to from .m4v to .m4r, and the ringtone is created successfully.

A pop up dialog will ask you for confirmation, just click “Use .m4r”

7. Now double click your ringtone file and it should added to the iTunes RingTone category, if not, just drag and drop it to iTunes

8. That’s all, sync it with your iPhone and check your iPhone ringtone setting page.
