WWDC 2009 updates – quicklist part 01

I just following the updates of WWDC 09, these are what i got at the moment, will keep on posting:

New MacBook Pro

• 13″ MacBook now becomes a MacBook Pro, no more MacBook, unibody, SD Card, 8GB of memory, up to 500GB or 256GB SSD drive with backlet keyboard and FW800,  7 hour battery life. Guess how much? $1199!

• New 15″inch MacBook Pro, up to 3.06GHz, up to 8GB RAM, 500GB or 256GB SSD drives. Faster laptop ever.
  Top of the line $2299. Midrange for $1999. Low end for $1699.
• 17″ inch MacBook Pro now $300 less than before at $2499.

• New Macbook Air, $1499 and $1799 configuration. $700 less than previous price.
• All available and shipping today! (When available in Malaysia? As usual, few weeks later)

New OSX version – Snow Leopard

• Full 64-bit. It’s twice as fast and can make use of unlimited RAM (up to 16 billion GB).
• Finder has been re-written. Faster,  better undo support, reduces clutter. Expose is now built into the doc.
• Installations are now 45% faster.
• Recovers about 6GB of disk space. It’s half the footprint of Leopard.
• Smarter AI for text selection in Preview. Trackpad now good for drawing chinese characters!

• Dock expose, you can zoom, drag and drop through exposé to move files into other documents.
• Can preview PDFs and Quicktime from the thumbnails in Finder.
• New exchange support. Works with Mail, iCal, and Address Book!
• Spotlight search will also search PC docs and attachments from within Mail.

• Meeting invitations: Accept from within Mail! Integrated views of personal & biz stuff within iCal and Address Book!
• If you have Leopard, Snow Leopard will only be $29!
• Family pack: $49. Full retail is $129.
• Available in September.

Safari 4

• Safari 4 goes live today for Tiger, Leopard, and Windows! (Not beta anymore)
• New Safari 4 allows a plugin to crash without taking down the whole app.
• Global search of browser history includes pages and text within pages.

New Quicktime X

• All new. Quicktime X. Has color correction, HTTP streaming. It’s faster and has a new foundation.
• You can now trim and share with video previews! One click to share with: Youtube, MobileMe and iTunes!

iPhone

• 3.0 Firmware! 100 new features. Cut/copy/paste. Works across all apps – those native when you buy the phone and all new apps. To undo, just shake the phone. Landscape mode in all Apple apps. MMS now available.
• Adding Spotlight: now search across your entire phone, apps and details within apps!
• iTunes: Rent and purchase movies right from the phone! (Only US and few supported countries  iTune account user)
  
• iTunesU now also on phone.
• HTML5 support in Mobile Safari. Javascript 3X faster.
• Autofill on new iPhone OS.
• Support for Hebrew, Arabi, Thai, Greek, and Chinese…over 30 languages supported.

• Find My iPhone service for MobileMe customers, login and it will show you a map of where your phone is located!

• You can now send your phone a message with yoru home number so someone can alert you.

• You also send a “remote wipe” command to wipe your data remotely!

• New Push notification technology
• Tomtom GPS app, real-time GPS. Has a voice that tells you when to turn.

• New app: Zipcard. Lets you find nearby ZipCar lots, see what cars are available there and make reservations.
• Once you book your car, you can unlock it using your iPhone! Cool huh? 
  

• Taping a button even honks the car horn so you can find which car is your and unlock it remotely. Amazing!

• New app:  Line 6—This app lets you plug in your guitar and change its sound as if it was plugged into different amps. You can make an electric sound acoustic, design your own pickups/guitar, or make it sound tuned all on the iPhone.

• 3.0 firmware is FREE upgrade for all iPhone owners and $9.95 for iPod touch owners
• 3.0 firmware AVAILABLE JUNE 17! Be patient~
