Undercover – protect your mac/macbook/imac

Now a day, most people will go for laptop instead of desktop, since the price of laptop is cheaper than before (few years ago), becoming smaller and more portable. But some people start worried about their laptop being stolen or robbed.
Buying a property insurance not the only solution to solve this issue, it may allow you to get back some of your money, but not the laptop or data inside.

Is a application/software that will hidden in your Mac system, when you lost your Mac, simply report to Orbicule team with the provided registered ID, next time your stolen Mac goes online (using dial-up, WiFi, ethernet, Bluetooth, …) Undercover transmits network information of the stolen Mac. This information includes both internal and external IP addresses and the router address, enabling Orbicule recovery center to accurately trace the Mac’s physical location(if you ever play Google Map from your mobile phone, you should get an idea how this work(, in collaboration with the ISP and the police.
Also, Undercover will transmit pictures of the thief and his surroundings every 6 minutes through the built-in isight camera or other external webcam, send screenshots of your stolen Mac at regular intervals. These screenshots will sooner or later reveal the thief’s identity, making it even easier to identify the current user. It’s like having a private detective working for you.

这软件会隐藏在你的Mac里，当你的Mac被偷后，你可以马上联络Orbicule团队并且告诉他们你的注册码和你的Mac被偷了，当你的Mac上线时，Undercover会不断的检查那台Mac的IP、router IP，然后Orbicule团队检查准确最靠近的地点(如果你有使用手机玩Google Map，你会明白这怎么运作），并且与当地的ISP和警察联络。
还有，Undercover会以每六分钟使用Mac内建的视讯摄影头iSight拍下在萤幕前的人，并且寄到他们那里以做证据，这些图片过后可以帮助当地警方找到对方。
当然，如果以上方法不行（假设那台Mac没有连接上网），他们还有其它方法：
1. 制造硬件有问题的假象并且显示在在萤幕上。
当以上方法不行时，Undercover会执行另外一个计划，会制造一个硬件有问题的假象显示在萤幕上，并且让系统暂时无法使用，就算那台Mac是没有上网的。
这可以避免对方把偷来的Mac放上网拍卖，一般上会带到Apple服务中心做维修或直接与其他买家进行买卖。Orbicule团队会不断的检查被偷的Mac的地点，因着这样，他们很快就可以找到那些交易地点。
2. 过后在萤幕上显示警告，并且不断发出系统的警告音效和使用内建的Speech发出
就在这个时候，Undercover会在萤幕上显示警告，并且警告买家/服务中心这台Mac是偷来的，并且无法使用，要求对方尽快归还，不然会采取法律行动。
也许你会怀疑到底最终可不可以找回被偷掉的Mac，但按照Orbicule的网站那里注明，如果他们无法帮你找回那台被偷掉的Mac，他们会完全把软件的钱退还给你，或如果你在30天内不满意这软件，也可以随时把钱退还给你。
